It's episode 2 of Experts! This week features magical Montreal mavens Maxine Segalowitz and Lar Vi!
Alex and D.J. speak with Max and Lar about blurring the lines between art and comedy.
Lar Vi does stand-up, improv, sketch, theatre, and video. This year, she performed with Dink Floyd and Gross! at the Montreal Kketchfest, and participated in Joketown 14 & 15. As Wolfinger Productions she has produced the experimental character variety show Gettin' Plorpy With Mr. Zinger, as well as three shows for the Montreal Fringe Festival: The Shadow Waltz (2014), Total Liquidation (2015), and The Making of "Warm Mess" (2016).
Lar will be appearing at OFF-JFL as part of Joketown: Simply The Best on July 21.
Maxine Segalowitz is an emerging dance artist and silly person in Tio’tia:ke, more commonly known as Montréal. Since arriving from Toronto, Ontario in 2009, she has completed her BFA in Contemporary Dance at Concordia University in 2014, and has performed and presented at venues Centre PHI, Tangente, Centaur Theatre, Musée d’Art Contemporaine, Le Gesu, Studio 303, Théâtre L’Astral, The Wiggle Room, Théâtre MainLine, and Théâtre Saint-Catherine in Montréal through various multi-disciplinary festivals. Internationally, she has interpreted for artist Ingrid Bachmann at KUNSTKRAFTWERK in Leipzig, Germany. She has also received a nomination for Most Outstanding Choreography Award (Bouge d’ici) at the Montreal FRINGE Festival 2016 for her solo-show SEXPECTATIONS. She has co-facilitated a voice, movement and choreography workshop series with Phoebe Heintzman Hope entitled The Pleasure Model, along with performing in multiple sketch variety shows hosted and facilitated by both Alex and D.J. as her clown character, PHACHINAH. Maxine is thrilled to be apart of this podcast, let alone be considered a EXPERT on anything at all!
