Brian Posehn isn’t just one of the funniest stand-up comics, he’s also an accomplished character actor thanks to his deadpan inflection and towering height. He’s someone you instantly recognize but you may not know where.
If we had to guess, we’d say that you recognize him from his roles in Mr. Show, Just Shoot Me, The Sarah Silverman Program, Mission Hill and The Devil’s Rejects. But today, we’d like to highlight some of Brian Posehn’s lesser known roles.
And though these Brian Posehn roles aren’t particularly well-known, it’s worth noting that they still managed to burn Brian’s face, voice and massive stature into your brain. Unless you some kind a idiot, you remember the Posehn. That sweet, sweet Posehn.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Where I know you from, Brian Posehn? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
The Wedding Singer
Right before Adam Sandler breaks down to sing “Love Stinks”, he declares, “Some people just weren’t meant to find love. Like the fat guy over there, side burns lady, or the mutants over at table nine.”
And just who was one of those mutants over at table nine? You guessed it, BRIAN POSEHN.
As unflattering as being called an unlovable mutant by a movie star who hasn’t tried since 2002 might be, Brian Posehn’s sensational performance as uncredited table 9 mutant managed to crack the cultural lexicon. Top definition on Urban Dictionary for “table nine” ain’t nothing to wag your finger at.
Admit it. You re-watched Friends in its entirety this winter the second it premiered on Netflix. You dirty devil. Don’t worry, your secret’s safe with me.
Or is it? 😘
Joey finally starts to find success as Dr. Drake Ramoray on Days of Ours Lives, eh?. But then he pulls a total Chandler and blows it by saying he writes his own lines in an interview Soap Opera Digest. NOT A FICTIONAL MAGAZINE. A REAL ONE. Can you believe it?
Stakes is high.
The vindictive writers respond by making Joey fall down an elevator shaft.
AND GUESS WHO’S THERE WHEN HE FINDS OUT THE BAD NEWS: Brian Posenh.
If you don’t laugh when Joey refuses to sign Brian’s clipboard form and he responds with, “I don’t think that’s going to affect the plot of the show,” the fuck wrong with you?
They grow up so fast, don’t they?
Brian Posehn is at OFF-JFL this summer. Details here.
